South-West Homebuilding & Renovating Show 2010

We have just yesterday decided to exhibit at the South-West Homebuilding & Renovating Show 2010, at the Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet BA4 6QN, so please do come and see us on Stand 504 (on the balcony level, near to the Masterclass area).

I last attended a couple of years ago, when we were starting to rebuild our house, and the range of products, services, and advice was really good.  If you’re thinking of revamping your garden, or even building a house, then I thoroughly recommend that you come along.

Our website is under reconstruction, but when it’s on line in a few weeks time there will be a link to get your complimentary tickets (normally £8 on the door, £5 in advance).  I’ll post when the website is up and running, so why not subscribe to our blog and get an email reminder?  Hope to see you there!

Inspiration from Contemporary Art

Back in November of last year I paid a visit to the Tate Modern in London.  Whilst not everything is necessarily to my taste, I feel it’s always worthwhile to look over something new: after all, you never know where inspiration might come from.  I like to make a quick sketch of things that catch my eye, as this helps to acquire a “feel” for the piece: here is a sample, together with photos of the “real thing” culled from the web (no photography in the gallery, of course).

In compiling this post I notice most of my sketch subjects are hardly contemporary – more like 100 years old -  so perhaps I’m not as up-to-date as I like to think!

It isn’t always obvious where the ideas inspired by my visit will take me.  Here is just one example.

If you like the “love seat” design, please feel free to leave a comment :-)
